Ellsworth County Highway Department is located at 408 West 15th on Old Highway 40.
Office hours are 7:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday thru Friday.
Rick Nondorf is the road superintendent.
Ellsworth County maintains 80 miles of paved roads, 160 miles of gravel roads and 762 bridges.

Permits

Permits are required for any type of work in the County right-of-ways. Permits can be obtained by contacting the office.
Moving permits are also required. They may be obtained by contacting the County clerk’s office.

Employment

Ellsworth County has job openings only when positions open up. We have pre-employment drug screenings and monthly random drug testing.

Weather Policy

Snow – all County blacktop and gravel roads are opened starting as soon as possible with snow problem only.
Ice – salt trucks will only salt roads (paved) when temperature reaches 20 degrees F or above. Sunshine on the salt will let us salt with lower temperatures.

Summer Roadwork

Road construction will start Wednesday April 28th 2010 on the Low Road between Ellsworth and Kanopolis lasting up to three weeks depending on the weather and speed of construction. A pilot car will lead traffic through and motorist should expect a delay up to 15 minutes.
